There is no limit to the number of warehouses (identified by up to eight characters) and the system supports multiple locations within a warehouse. Each company selects LIFO, FIFO, Average, Standard or Burdened costing method and controls whether “negative” item quantities are allowed. Additional options allow for “zero cost” or “zero price” items and “price per” pricing. Units of measure and unit of measure conversions accommodate different elements for “stocking”, “purchasing” and “selling” an item.

Item group records provide a template of defaults for items of the same category and the “same as item” feature saves data entry when adding an item with similar characteristics to another one already contained in the database. Default values can be overridden as needed to apply unique characteristics. Serial number tracking and fractional quantities are accommodated as is whether an item should be included on the Price List or flagged as being “non-saleable”.

Inter- and intra-warehouse transfers are enabled from one option. “Direct” transactions, which update inventory immediately, include item receipts, purchase order requests, adjustments, cost level corrections and sales and returns. Physical count sheets listing items by location with space for warehouse personnel to write in results can be generated for one, all or a range of items with the option of including the computer quantity.

Query functions provide immediate access to total quantities by location, stock status and order requirements. Stock Status and Order Requirements reports assist with purchasing decisions and the Inventory Valuation Report provides important financial analysis based on the selected costing method. Free format labels are user-defined to suit individual purposes, such as for identifying aisles and bins.

The Sales by Item Report, which can be exported to a file for further analysis through Excel, includes quantity sold for selected date range, with cost and primary selling price.
